Daily Paper Celebrates Hip-Hop's Influence for SS22
Looking back to the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.
Amsterdam-based Daily Paper has launched its Spring/Summer 2022 lookbook, paying tribute to the influence of hip-hop culture on the label. The collection mixes references to hip-hop in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s with nods to the Pan-African flag and hip-hops role as a force for social change.
Stand-out pieces include oversized monogram sweatsuits, denim dungarees and pinstripe tailoring, which sports an African cowrie shell design on the stripes and the phrase “Educate to Liberate.” Elsewhere, Daily Paper has transformed the red, black and green colors of the Pan-African flag into a new bandana print that appears on a dress and tracksuit, while signature Daily Paper silhouettes arrive in a color palette ranging from “Chocolate Brown” and “Mint Green” to pops of bright red and yellow.
Launching the collection, co-founder and design director Abderrahmane Trabsini said:
“I enjoyed working on this collection a lot as Hip Hop has always been, and still is, a big inspiration to us. The influence of Hip Hop and its community had a significant impact on how Daily Paper came to life. First through telling stories around street culture on our blog which later evolved to become the fashion brand we are today.”
Daily Paper’s SS22 collection will begin releasing on January 14, and will be available from the brand’s web store as well as its flagship locations in Amsterdam, London and New York.
