Salehe Bembury Reveals His Fourth New Balance Collaboration
A muted reworking of the brand’s signature 574 model.
After dropping off the “Water Be the Guide” 200R in June, Salehe Bembury has taken to Instagram to reveal a full first look at his fourth collaboration with New Balance: a suede gray take on the brand’s classic 574 model.
Upon first glance, it’s evident that the new silhouette veers away from the vibrancy of Bembury’s past New Balance collaborations, instead opting for a muted, neutral colorway. From a technical perspective, the shoe’s upper construction employs mesh and suede in several shades of gray, a “Salehe Bembury” tag and New Balance’s signature silver “N” emblem on its side.
Elsewhere, an unidentified, whistle-like component extends from the back of the upper design, which sits atop a chunky white foam base featuring a special cushioning system at the heel. The silhouette was previously believed to be an entirely new model; however, Bembury’s latest images have put rumors to rest with a small detail on the shoe’s ripstop tongue. Trimmed with matching suede, the tongue’s front-facing tag reads “YURT 574,” confirming the shoe’s signature 574 lineage and hinting at an official name.
