The Reebok Instapump Fury Becomes a GORE-TEX-Lined Boot
Dubbed the Instapump Fury X GTX.
Reebok‘s Instapump Fury may be a conceptual, stripped-back running shoe — that still looks futuristic today even though it debuted in 1994 — but this winter it’s taking a turn as a boot dubbed the Instapump Fury X GTX. Featuring a high-cut collar, GORE-TEX lining and an ultra-rugged sole, the Instapump Fury X GTX is a concept silhouette come to life, one that’s loaded with enough new embellishment and classic flair to delight even the most grizzled Instapump Fury fan.
Borrowing a citron, red, black and white color scheme from the OG Instapump Fury “Citron,” the Fury X GTX features a neoprene and mesh base that’s overlaid with a translucent Pump bladder, cored out over the top and outside of the foot to show Reebok’s Vector logo. The Pump fit system takes up residence in a new place as well, moving from the tongue to the lateral midfoot.
High-cut collars are secured by a zipper, and wrap the wearer’s ankle in the same way a flexible brace would. They’re lined with GORE-TEX Infinium to keep water out, an extra layer that’s acknowledged by their tags and heel hits. Collar tabs aid with ease of entry and removal, while down on the heel a white TPU clip adds texture.
Signature two-piece midsoles are connected by a carbon fiber midfoot plate, and loaded with DMX cushioning in the heel for comfort. An aggressive tread pattern on the outsole calls to mind images of the Pyer Moss x Reebok Experiment 4 Fury Trail, supplying fashion and function in equal measures to finalize the unique look.
The Reebok Instapump Fury X GTX will release September 15 at retailers like Overkill. Its MSRP is set at $220 USD.
