The Beatles Announce 'Let It Be' Re-Release
Featuring previously unreleased recording sessions and a 1969 ‘Get Back’ stereo mix by Glyn Johns.
A reissued version of The Beatles‘ final studio album Let It Be will release on October 15, enhancing the classic 1970 album with previously unreleased recording sessions, rehearsals and mixes.
Arriving in both physical and digital “super deluxe” editions, the re-released Let It Be will include 27 recordings, a four-track Let It Be EP and a vaulted 14-track Get Back stereo LP mix, done up by engineer Glyn Johns in May 1969. Additionally, the reissue will arrive with a new hardcover book, titled The Beatles: Get Back.
“I had always thought the original film Let It Be was pretty sad as it dealt with the break-up of our band,” writes Paul McCartney in the foreword of the book. “But the new film shows the camaraderie and love the four of us had between us. It also shows the wonderful times we had together, and combined with the newly remastered Let It Be album, stands as a powerful reminder of this time. It’s how I want to remember The Beatles.”
Ushering in the new record, The Beatles today unveiled three tracks off of the re-released Let It Be album: “Let It Be (2021 Mix),” “Don’t Let Me Down (First Rooftop Performance)” and “For You Blue (1969 Glyn Johns Mix). Listen on Spotify below.
Let It Be will be available to purchase in a variety of formats, including a “super deluxe” 5xCD and Blu-ray set, a “super deluxe” 4xLP + 12” EP vinyl set, deluxe 2xCD, standard CD, limited-edition picture disc and standard LP vinyl, while also landing on streaming services. The super deluxe Let It Be is available for pre-order on The Beatles’ website.
