New Balance Readies the XC-72 "Bone/Multi" for Its Big Debut

There’s no denying New Balance‘s dominance in the sneaker market, and thanks to collaborations many new and old silhouettes have been introduced to further help it take over the industry. Now, its all-new XC-72 in “Bone/Multi” is set to release, following on from an FW21 digital fashion week teaser from Casablanca that saw the silhouette appear in three custom collab takes.
As for the “Bone/Multi” pair you see above, there’s been quite a lot of fanfare for this upcoming silhouette. The reason for this is that it brings some familiar NB design cues and combines them with a rather wild-looking sole unit, which again only (physically and metaphorically) elevates the XC-72.
From a top-down perspective, the XC-72 looks like it draws from the fan-favorite 327 (and perhaps the 237 too), with its panels appearing in a similar split design. The multicolored suede continues to the sides of the shoe where you’ll find a large “N” emblem adorning a beige nylon mid-panel, while at the rear there’s a split design segmenting the heel from the heel clip and the rubber bumper.
The sole unit is also split up, appearing in gray and cream at either side of the shoe and gummy at the rear, all while sporting that uniquely grooved design.
New Balance’s XC-72 “Bone/Multi” is set to release at stockists such as Asphalt Gold on September 3 and will cost €129 EUR (approx. $153 USD). Take a closer look at the pair above.
