As the debut of the 990v6 draws ever closer, New Balance has become more adventurous with the 990v5‘s colorblocking — as indicated by its vivid new “Virtual Violet” colorway. Following in the footsteps of other vibrant color schemes like “Black/Purple/Light Blue” and even a popsicle-inspired makeup, the “Virtual Violet” combines potent tones with high-quality made in the USA construction.

Uppers feature a rich swath of purple mesh and suede, accented by a warm yellow shade on the trim, heel overlays and toebox detailing that New Balance has dubbed “First Light.” Hot red gets in on the mix as well, surrounding the midfoot’s silver N logo, gracing the heel clip and appearing on the top eyestay. “First Light” and red alike appear on the tongue tag, which prominently features a made in the USA badge to leave no questions about the shoe’s construction. Down below, red, gray and white ENCAP midsoles work with black rubber outsoles to finalize the look.

The made in the USA New Balance 990v5 “Virtual Violet” is available via the New Balance webstore now. Its MSRP is set at $180 USD.
