Salehe Bembury and Lexus Tease Forthcoming Collaboration
A new phase of the car brand’s creative partnership with the designer.
Salehe Bembury is no stranger to creating sought after collaborations, and now he’s taking his sartorial talents even further into the automotive space. Lexus and the designer, along with Champion, have teased a collection of stylish goods that fuse Bembury’s signature aesthetic with the spirit of the brand. It’s a fitting collaboration, considering Bembury previously worked with the carmaker to help usher in a new era of electrification by creating virtual interiors for the LF-Z Electrified, and will take the energy of the partnership to a clothing collection. Finding common ground in forward-thinking design that challenges the status quo, it appears the capsule will apply this mindset to a series that includes a T-shirt, hoodie and hat.
The two partners have shared a video that shows the Lexus logo reimagined through the lens of Bembury. This is applied to a selection of elevated, utilitarian pieces. If their previous work together is any indication, this new phase of the partnership will tap into the notion that conscious design — whether applied to cars or clothes — should match the tastes and values of the user. Holistically, the forthcoming collaboration offers a comment on the importance of tapping into varying areas of expertise as a means of expanding what’s possible, a guiding principle for Lexus that has allowed the brand to continually push the boundaries of creativity.
