JJJJound Officially Announces Its Vault by Vans Sk8-Mid VLT LX Collaboration
The Canadian masters of minimalism serve up three takes on Vans’ mid-cut skate silhouette.

JJJJound and Vault by Vans have officially announced the release of their Sk8-Mid VLT LX collaboration. Teased since this spring, the two’s latest collaborative project consists of three elevated takes on the popular skate shoe: green, brown and black.
The Justin Saunders-helmed, Montreal-based masters of minimalism are referring to this three-pack as a “retrospective,” one that spotlights a hidden piece of Vans history — namely that the Sk8-Mid was originally released in 1978 as the brand’s first high-cut skate shoe before giving way to the world famous Sk8-Hi in 1979 and reappearing as the Style 37 in the ’90s.
To properly honor the shoe’s lineage, JJJJound has crafted all three colorways from a mixture of hard-wearing canvas and leather that they say “[evokes] the state of heavily-used skate sneakers.” The green and brown pairs use two shades of their signature color to provide tonal contrast and add white Jazz stripes. On the other hand, the black pair opts for a monochromatic look and branding, though all three pairs do feature white contrast stitching. White midsoles and special JJJJound tags on the heel complete each look.
This release marks JJJJound’s second Vans collaboration, following up a three-pack of elegant takes on the Old Skool from 2017. Each JJJJound x Vans Old Skool currently fetches four-figure sums on the aftermarket, so it’s not unreasonable to assume that these collaborative Sk8-Mid VLT LXs will be a hot ticket as well.
Look for the JJJJound x Vans Sk8-Mid VLT LX collection to roll out on the JJJJound webstore over a period of three days: the black pair releases August 10, the brown August 11 and the green August 12. Each is priced at $150 USD.
