Tokyo’s The Apartment and New Balance have joined forces once again for a 574 collaboration dubbed “Mustard Dip.” Following up the two’s hike-ready 801 that released in 2020, the “Mustard Dip” adds a little flavor to one of New Balance’s most storied silhouettes to provide a tasty blend of fresh and familiar.
The majority of the “Mustard Dip” is quintessential 574: gray suede and mesh upper, faint blue detailing around the midfoot’s N logo, sturdy plastic heel clip, thickly-padded collar, trim midsole and black rubber outsole. However, what gives the shoe its name is its vivid mudguard, dressed in a bright canary yellow and featuring a debossed “We Are Different” text hit. Dashes of yellow also appear on the lace tips and the very front of the ENCAP midsole. For a finishing touch, the “Mustard Dip” is equipped with a special, Heinz-inspired “We Are Different” tag.
Look for The Apartment x New Balance 574 “Mustard Dip” to release via The Apartment’s webstore come July 11. A retail price has yet to be announced.
