Nike Unveils New Team USA Medal Stand Kit and Anniversary Basketball Jersey for Tokyo Olympics

With the Tokyo Olympic Games around the corner, eyes are not only going to be on the action, but what athletes are going to wear. Nike has unveiled a number of new offerings for Team USA including a medal stand kit and a new celebratory women’s basketball jersey.

Nike’s Team USA Medal Stand Kit features windrunner jackets and pants, both made from 100 percent recycled materials. The Windrunner Jackets incorporate Nike Grind, which is recycled manufacturing waste, on the badge at the chest and in the zipper. The jacket’s panel design also includes laser-cut perforations under the arms and lower back for breathability.

American color accents are woven throughout the Team USA pants, featuring a mesh lining for comfort. The Fly Ease Glide shoe completes the Medal Stand Kit, which also uses 50 percent recycled materials.

For the women’s basketball team, Nike wanted to honor their undefeated legacy since winning gold in 1996. As the team will pursue their seventh consecutive gold medal, the Red Dynasty jersey commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Greatest Dynasty. The jersey features classic typography on the chest and the neckline’s design is reminiscent of the 1996 women’s team uniforms in Atlanta. Twelve stars run along the jersey’s navy side panels, representing the number of players on the team. Also, a hidden detail on the short’s side vent reveals the number of players throughout the federation’s history (84), the team’s number of international appearances (10) and the number of gold medals won (eight).
