Louis Vuitton Enlists BTS for FW21 Collection Spin-Off Show
The House Ambassadors lead Virgil Abloh’s take over of Seoul, South Korea.
Shortly after sharing Off-White™’s “Laboratory of Fun” Fall 2021 Ready-to-Wear collection, Virgil Abloh has now held a spin-off show for his Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2021 collection. Enlisting the help of House Ambassadors BTS, the K-pop supergroup lead the Artistic Director’s take over of Seoul, South Korea. Reimagining Art Bunker B39, an art and culture space just outside Seoul, the show looked to highlight the collection’s aim to “redefine how our minds identify archetypical wardrobes which are tied to societal presumptions, the collection re-appropriates the normal through extreme elevation.”
The spin-off show shares 41 looks from the FW21 collection, 34 of which have been shown for the first time and seven worn by BTS members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Louis Vuitton also constructed a 20-meter high structure to accompany the presentation. The form captures concepts of movement and speed, architecture through lines and form, referencing the communicative gazes of people in Seoul that reveal spatial differences and multiple perspectives both inside and out. Scoring the presentation was handled by Benji B with artists Cifika, Kim Kate and Net Gala.
