Did Kanye West Just Reveal Another Piece from YEEZY x Gap?
The musician made a surprise appearance at the Balenciaga couture show in Paris.
Kanye West’s Gap x Yeezy collaboration must qualify as the world’s most drawn-out drip-feed reveal. Since it was first announced last summer, we’ve seen precisely one piece: a light-blue puffer jacket that was dropped last month (and promptly sold out). But since then, everything has gone quiet again.
However, in this morning’s livestream of the first-ever Balenciaga couture show from Demna Gvasalia, West himself made a surprise appearance in the crowd, sitting a few seats down from Lewis Hamilton and NBA player James Harden — and directly opposite Anna Wintour. The musician’s face was obscured throughout the show — even as the models began to appear — by a black headscarf.
But on closer inspection, as a shot taken by New York Times fashion editor Vanessa Friedman shows, he appears to be wearing a black colorway of the puffer style; the shape and fabrication appear almost identical to the first drop. Could this be a long-awaited sophomore piece?

It’s worth noting that West wore the blue jacket out on the street the day before it was formally announced by the brand – so it’s highly possible that this is another tease from the musician. Of course, it’s also possible that he’s wearing a piece from his own archives, which may have inspired the Gap style.
Stay tuned to HYPEBEAST for confirmation on the ID of the piece when it comes — and, of course, check back for our full review of Balenciaga couture shortly.
