Nike Brings Pineapple Leather to Classic Silhouettes for "Happy Pineapple" Pack
All constructed from PIÑATEX.
With the Air Force 1 and Free Run Trail making an appearance earlier this year, Nike has now given a full look at its wider “Happy Pineapple” pack. The collection is focused on PIÑATEX, a pineapple-based material that is used on all five silhouettes as an alternative to leather.
The silhouettes featured in the pack include the aforementioned Air Force 1 and Free Run Trail, along with a new take on classics such as the Air Max 95 and Air Max 90, as well as two eye-catching versions of the Air Zoom-Type. Rounding out the pack is a women’s exclusive Air Force 1 colorway. All of the silhouettes are constructed from PIÑATEX, which is produced as a byproduct of pineapple harvesting.
The material is also referenced through the collection’s design, with the “Happy Pineapple” name represented through a smiling pineapple logo on the tongue. Other details include sections of cork, as well as hits of colors such as “Coconut Milk,” “Green Glow” and “Apricot Agate.”
