For Spring/Summer 2022, Namacheko took on a personal note as designer Dilan Lurr reflected upon his own immigrant heritage. The range builds upon Lurr’s ongoing examination of his Kurdish roots and the feeling of being an outsider after moving to Sweden at the age of nine from Iraq.

Titled “THE UGLY SWAN,” the SS22 collection draws upon the fairy tale of the “Ugly Duckling” by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in a celebration of Lurr’s family heritage. Wide-ranging and expansive the seasonal selection comes together through a reference to the cohesive multi-species universe of Star Wars that spoke to the designer. The collection is defined by geometric knitwear, workwear plays, boilersuits and takes on menswear staples. Accenting bright and bold color options are decorations that come in the form of straps, button embellishments and Kurdish embroidery-inspired edge-trimming.
