1017 ALYX 9SM Introduces the "BEYOND" With Its SS22 Collection
Showcasing its innovative textiles and developments.
Driven by innovation, designer Matthew M. Williams has unveiled his latest expression in the creative process of fashion through 1017 ALYX 9SM‘s Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Simply titled “BEYOND,” the seasonal range focuses on progress with a display of innovative textiles and developments.
For SS22, comfort serves as a significant focus, exploring the concept through the interplay of silhouette and material. Women’s looks like colored bikinis with matching leggings and shirt dresses are constructed of luxury bathing suit technical stretch fabrics. While men’s styles employ oversized silhouette sheathing with the integration of jersey and toweling materials. Silhouette explorations are continued with the shell leather construction found on oversized moto jackets and sleeveless vests. Rendered in leather, the outerwear features almost motorcycle body armor shell backs to offer an articulated voluminous shape achieved through intensive research and development.
Joining its signature melding cutting-edge technical innovation with artisanal techniques, the SS22 collection features hand-beaded embellishments. Delicate organza bases are accented with a hand-applied alternating matrix that creates a dynamic fringe pattern. Each adorned dress takes nearly nine days to complete and features 18,000 beads with more than 320m of thread. Sweatshirts, t-shirt, sweatpants and jeans introduce the distressed jersey motif centered around worn-in detailing. The distressed patterns were carefully designed through laser and manual treatments, then taught to a machine over three days to be digitized and recreated.
Finally, building on the FW21 introduction, 1017 ALYX 9SM has expanded its Mono range. Utilizing the EVA Mono sole on hybrid models to create the Mono Slide and Mono Hiking Sneaker. The new footwear models are a prime combination of technical innovation and comfort with maximum breathability.
