Israel Adesanya Dismantles Marvin Vettori To Retain Championship at UFC 263
Brandon Moreno also defeats Deiveson Figueiredo to become the first Mexican UFC champion.
Taking over the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona with a full crowd, Israel Adesanya dismantled Marvin Vettori to retain his Middleweight Championship at UFC 263.
Clashing in a rematch for his third title defence, “The Last Stylebender” showed his dominance shutting down takedown attempts from the number three ranked Italian middleweight. Adesanya also offered a series of devastating leg kicks to Vettori’s lead leg to set up his striking showcase to pull off a unanimous decision victory at the end of five rounds.
Earlier in the night, Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo also clashed in a rematch following their majority draw decision last December. An extremely confident Moreno gave Figueiredo some adversity in the first round, ultimately executing a rear-naked choke submission in the third round. Becoming the new UFC Flyweight Champion, Brandon Moreno is now the first-ever Mexican UFC champion.
While fan favorite Nate Diaz went five rounds with Leon Edwards, nearly putting away the British-Jamaican in the final minute. Despite the effort, Edwards walked away with a unanimous decision victory through his overall control of the fight.
In case you missed it, Engage and Israel Adesanya delivered a “Stylez” lifestyle range.
