If Crocs‘ success has anything to show, it’s that footwear tastes and interests are evolving. While the likes of Victoria Beckham would “rather die” than be seen in a pair of Crocs, many streetwear fanatics are up on the ever-growing trend of once-ugly, now hyped slip-ons, especially if they’re a pair from Palace or BEAMS. Now, Northwave is joining in on the trend, unleashing its Pu Slide to the masses in black or white.
There’s very little going on with the Pu Slide, but that won’t stop us from talking you through it. In Northwave’s usual style, the toe is bulbous and rounded (admittedly, the entire aesthetic follows this theme), and the bumper blends into the chunky sole unit with only a few grooves distinguishing the two pieces apart.
Moving up the pair, we find seven perforated holes on the mid-panel that lead up towards a padded collar on the very front part of the “tongue,” which we imagine would be a nice cushion in comparison to the often harder materials found on similar pairs around this touchpoint.
At the rear, it’s a classic mule approach. A backless design has been given a removable clip-on heel support that’s adjustable and is finished with Northwave’s branding. Lastly, a fabric trim lines the footbed, adding to the comfort.
For now, Northwave’s Pu Slide appears in either black or white. Both retail for €95 EUR (approx. $115 USD) and can be bought from retailers such as Sivasdescalzo now.
