New Balance's Made in the USA 992 Is Back in Black
And equipped with reflective accents.

New Balance‘s 992 had an extremely strong 2020, becoming one of the year’s biggest lifestyle hits and appearing in collaborative iterations that landed on many “Best Of” lists — HYPEBEAST‘s included. It’s seemingly taken a backseat to other archival NB models like the 991 and 1500 in 2021, but a silhouette of its prominence can never stay out of the spotlight for long, so it’s been brought back in an all black colorway.
Part of New Balance’s high-quality Made in the USA line — of which Aimé Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis was recently named creative director — this pitch black 992 boasts an upper made of sporty mesh and supple suede. Though the style is indeed monochromatic there’s pops of flair to be had as well: hi-vis reflective detailing graces the midfoot’s N logo and a piece of the heel tab, while the 992 logo on the tongue diverges from the rest of the shoe’s palette by switching to steel gray. Down below, the look is finalized with a black EVA foam midsole that loads up on cushy ABZORB gel for a comfy feel.
This made in the USA New Balance 992 is available in select sizes at retailers like HBX, and is priced at $248 USD.
