BTS Breaks Own Record for Most YouTube Plays in 24 Hours With New ‘Butter’ Video
Surpassing ‘Dynamite’ in record views.
K-pop supergroup BTS just shattered another record — previously set by the band themselves — for the biggest YouTube music video premiere in history.
On Thursday, the band released a music video for their new single “Butter,” the second all-English song for the group after last year’s hit “Dynamite.” According to YouTube, the song held a record 3.9 million peak concurrents when it first released on the site, racking up an impressive 108.2 million views within the first 24 hours.
“Dynamite” previously held the record for most YouTube views within 24 hours, boasting 101 million views after it was released on August 20, 2020. The video currently has over one billion views.
BTS now hold the first and second spots on YouTube’s all-time top 24 hour music debuts.
The band performed “Butter” for the first time on stage at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, where they won several prizes including Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales, Top Social Artist (Fan Voted) and Top Selling Song for “Dynamite.”
The group also announced that “Butter” broke the record for biggest single day record on Spotify.
