Bentley's Newest Bentayga "S" Adds a Sportier Edge to Its SUV Lineup
The motor company promises the newest model adds extra sporting agility to the Bentayga family.
For the first time since launching the Bentayga in 2015, Bentley is finally releasing an “S” version, promising to bring extra sporting agility to its SUV lineup.
The Bentayga “S” is the fourth model in the luxury SUV’s updated lineup. It joins the plug-in hybrid, the W12-powered Speed, as well as the standard V8 from the rest of the range. The “S” is different from the other models with its unique 22-inch wheels, standard-fit Blackline design package and bespoke badging. The newest rendition includes a larger rear spoiler, black lower-body panels, tinted light clusters, as well as black oval exits for its sportier and louder exhaust. The dark tint lenses to the headlamps and tail lamps complete the look of the sleek exterior.
To give the SUV a more performance-focused aesthetic, the seats, steering wheel, gear selector, headlining are constructed in Alcantara and other trim elements for a more contemporary-focused ambiance. Those interested will be able to specify either four, five or seven seats for the Bentayga “S.”
The “S” promises upgraded revisions to the SUV’s chassis that promise “an even more engaging drive.” The model offers a more enhanced Sport mode that not only improves steering feel but a greater turn-in response. The dampers are firmed up by 15 percent to ensure a reduction in body roll, while the torque-vectoring system is expected to have been recalibrated to offer more enhanced responsiveness. The system is also designed to react within 0.3 seconds with up to 1,300 Nm of torque making the vehicle capable of maintaining high stability for maximum ride comfort and exceptional handling.
The Bentayga “S” features Bentley’s renowned 4.0-liter, twin-scroll turbocharged V8 engine with a top speed of 180mph and can go from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds. This is just 0.6 seconds and 10mph shy from Bentley’s Bentayga Speed, which the company claims is the world’s fastest SUV.
