A Closer Look at Zion Williamson’s Full Jordan Brand Collection
Including four colorways and a selection of co-branded apparel.
After giving us a glimpse of his first signature sneaker with Jordan Brand earlier this month, Zion Williamson now releases a selection of official images ahead of the first Zion 1 sneaker launch.
The black and white “Gen Zion” colorway will be the first of the pack to drop, followed in instalments by a purple/blue “ZNA” take, a multi-colored “Noah” iteration and a vibrant pink “Marion”, inspired by his home in South Carolina, towards the end of May.
In creating the Zion 1 (originally thought to be called the Z Code) each sneaker has drawn inspiration from the New Orleans Pelicans forward’s unique blend of star power, to result in a silhouette that pays homage both his physicality on the court, as well as his personal traits too.
“We knew that one of Zion’s main inspirations for the look of the shoe was superhero armor,” explains Vianney de Montgolfier, Senior Footwear Designer, Jordan Sport. “When we thought about an icon or symbol that could clearly draw out the shoe’s benefits, the “Z” made perfect sense to us.”
On the “Gen Zion” colorway that’s set to release in limited quantities today — followed by a full launch on April 23 — Williamson said: “The white and black colorway is important to me. Growing up I was taught that your home base is your foundation. Whether it’s your family or your brothers, you need a solid base to start from, and that’s what the black and white colorway represents for me”.
A selection of Zion-infused apparel will round out Williamson’s first signature collection, with the “Gen Zion” sneaker set to be followed up by the release of the “ZNA” on May 5, “Noah” on May 19 and “Marion” on May 25. All of which will be available from the Nike Jordan online webstore.
