Percival and Sophy Hollington Tell the Story of 'Der Struwwelpeter'
Realised using the artist’s hand-carved lino-cutting technique.
Following the launch of its workwear-inspired Spring/Summer 2021 collection, British menswear label Percival has teamed up with Brighton-based artist and illustrator Sophy Hollington to tell the cautionary tales of Der Struwwelpeter.
Realised through a 220-gram cotton jersey, this limited-edition capsule celebrates Heinrich Hoffmann’s 1845 children’s book which comprises ten illustrated and rhymed stories, in which each has a clear moral that demonstrates the disastrous consequences of misbehaviour in an exaggerated way.
Hollington — who who often tackles themes from meteoric folklore to alchemical symbolism with her work — takes the form of relief prints created using the lengthy process of hand-carved lino-cutting, which will then be embroidered onto cotton jerseys in the heart of London.
