New 'Yasuke' Anime Teaser Showcases Japanese Cast
The story of the first African samurai’s quest for peace.
Ahead of its official premiere on Netflix, creator and director LeSean Thomas and animation studio MAPPA released a new teaser trailer showcasing the Japanese cast of Yasuke.
Also offering another look at the exciting visuals of the anime centered around a real-life man of African origin who served as under the Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga in the 1500s. Yasuke will tell the story of a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic and the first African samurai’s quest for peace. Yasuke gets wrapped up in a social upheaval between warring daimyo and must protect a mysterious child targeted by dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.
