There are numerous classic watch designs that Gerald Genta was responsible for — the IWC Ingenieur, Omega’s Constellation, Cartier’s Pasha de Cartier, to name a few — but its two watches from that list that have always stood out in such a commanding way that they are synonymous with Gerald Genta himself — the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Patek Philippe Nautilus.

Both these luxury sports models have exploded in price in the past half-decade, especially the Nautilus 5711 with the announcement of its discontinuation, and have experienced unrivaled waitlists. One new watch brand named Genius Watches looks to celebrate the work of Genta and the two grail watches all at the same time with the release of the Genius Genta. Taking a page out of H. Moser & Cie.’s book with its Frankenstein Swiss Icons watch, the Genius Genta is an amalgam of both the Royal Oak and the Nautilus.

Split into two parts, the hidden crown allows for the watch to be worn in both orientations where the 12 o’clock is interchangeable with the 6 o’clock. Not only does the watch have both the RO’s signature octagonal case with hexagonal screws along with the Nautilus’ porthole-inspired bezel (sans ears) but the dial is split and contains both the Tapisserie and horizontal bars of the Royal Oak and Nautilus, respectively. If that’s not enough, you also get both the iconic watch bracelets packaged in a single band.

These Swiss-made automatic Genius Gentas are set to retail for $5,000 USD. Check back with Genius Watches for the official release date.
