Vans Vault Covers Its UA OG Style 53 LX In Faux Pony Hair
The penny loafer-esque slip-on gets a playful update.

Vans Vault is known for being the wild child of the So Cal imprint’s footwear division, and its latest UA OG Style 53 LX in “Pony/White/Black” is the perfect example of that.
The upper is crafted entirely out of faux pony hair and sports a mottled black-on-white design reminiscent of a pony. While the base is somewhat smooth, Vans Vault has left the edges of the slip-on shoe untrimmed, seeing a furry collar around the opening of the shoe and its tongue section.
In usual form, the Style 53 has a penny loafer-esque strap with the iconic eye-shaped slit in the middle sitting on the vamp. This formal element is contrasted with informal design cues such as a black vulcanized rubber sole unit that’s chunkier than, say, Vans’ Slip-On offerings, mostly due to its heavily-treaded outsole.
Rounding out the bold new Style 53 LX is the blacked-out license plate on the heel and the tonal white Vans tab that’s sits underneath the collar of the shoe on the lateral side.
