Stüssy Shows You How to Do Smart-Casual This Spring
Its Spring 2021 collection is littered with loose formal cuts, cozy essentials, and the possible return of its Nike Air Huarache LE collaboration.
Stüssy is back for Spring 2021, presenting a collection that’s somewhat formal this season. Throughout, we find plenty of transitional pieces that will comfortably take us from late winter and into spring and then summer, whether that’s on your daily stroll, for lounging around the house, or if you’re working from home.
Spanning both men’s and womenswear, Stüssy offers one of its most laid-back and paired-down collections to date. For example, a lightweight mac coat is finished in pure white, while a khaki green liner gilet serves as an essential transitional seasonal piece. Layer this with items such as Stüssy’s cream eight ball sweater — which features the brand’s name spelled out in colorful balls much like Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme’s 1997 billiards sweater — or even a khaki green mesh vest, and you’re onto a clean all-season look.
Stüssy’s offering doesn’t end there. A silky pajama-esque shirt in black with white piping continues the formalities, as does the full-zip long-sleeve polo top and the women’s mohair two-piece. However, in true Stüssy style, exuberance and nods to its Californian roots come through with garments including a floral Hawaiian print shirt and jacket, a shirt printed with peaches in the style of the realism art period, and a knit that’s covered in a pink and blue geometric pattern, meaning it’s not too dissimilar to Shawn Stussy’s work for Dior Men.
Rounding out the lookbook is a first look at what could be the return of the Stüssy x Nike Air Huarache LE. Served in the “Desert Oak” and “Dark Olive” colorways that Stüssy first applied to the Huarache back in 2000, the sneakers appear on the feet of models and nod to a rumored collab return.
