monkey time, UNITED ARROWS‘ youthful sub-label, often recruits some of its favorite labels to cook up exclusive goods to be sold along with its own in-line apparel and Spring/Summer 2021 sees the imprint rejoin Champion for one such joint effort. This time, the loungewear company has revamped a set of sweaters and sweatpants to monkey time’s taste, yielding dynamic alterations to otherwise familiar silhouettes.
Each 10oz French terry piece has been significantly tweaked to best accompany monkey time’s Spring styling, featuring a plethora of new features and heather gray or black hues. The sweater, for instance, is recognizable only from the front; on the rear, it now features the usual Champion embroidery and snap button closure, like a reversed cardigan. Unbuttoning the rear adds ventilation and drape to the garment, which is cut oversized and finished with forward-facing pockets at its side.
As for the sweatpants, monkey time has slimmed down a pair of Champion signatures, adding a generous taper towards the leg opening. There, a zipper stretches from the hem to the ankle to allow for an adjustable fit. A center seam further tailors the shape, yielding a graceful appearance.
The exclusive monkey time x Champion sweater and sweatpants are available on UNITED ARROWS’ web store for ¥14,300 JPY and ¥13,200 JPY, respectively (approximately $134 USD and $124 USD).
Recently, fellow Japanese retailer SHIPS introduced its own exclusive Champion wares.
