On-Foot View of the Union x Air Jordan 2 "Rattan"
The streetwear boutique adds perforated suedes and branded ankle collars.
On the collaborations front, we can expect to see plentitude of new footwear from major brands and boutiques in 2022, several of which will be lead by Chris Gibbs and his team over at Union LA. It has been confirmed that the renowned streetwear retailer has collaborations with Nike and Jordan Brand in the works, one being this Union x Air Jordan 2 “Rattan”. The kicks first leaked back in November, but we now have a detailed look at the pair via on-foot imagery.
The LA-based shop completely reimagines the aesthetic and materials of MJ’s signature model. Instead of leather uppers and scaly mid-foot paneling, it opts to fashion the silhouette with canvas underlays, suede overlays and perforations across the mid-foot that are punched out at the quarters and filled in on the collars. Additionally, Union branding is spread out to the tongues, added tabs on the ankles and on the sides of the mid-foot. Its titular shade covers most of the real estate on the uppers and bottoms, while “Siren Red” notes coat the branding and “Orange Peel” splashes onto quarter panels.
