Seiko Prospex Drops US-Exclusive Spring Drive Moon Watch
Titanium watch features a dial inspired by the lunar surface.
Seiko has produced its own moon watch featuring the brand’s Spring Drive movement and a dial inspired by the lunar surface.
Available exclusively in the US, the Seiko Prospex LX Sky SNR051 Special Edition is accurate to +/- 1 second per day, thanks to its hybrid Spring Drive movement, which has its proven such accuracy onboard the International Space Station.
The SNR051 features an intricately textured grey dial representing the moon’s surface and a multi-tone grey sapphire crystal GMT bezel inspired by the light and shadows cast on it, while the watch’s blue GMT hand “echos the view of the earth from the moon.”
Seiko has also given the titanium used for both bracelet and case a “super-hard coating” to offer enhanced scratch resistance.
The Prospex LX SNR051 drops in January, exclusively through Seiko’s US retailers priced $5,500 USD.
Elsewhere in watches, Kurono takes on the flippers with named packaging.
