Balenciaga Drops Its Square-Toed Trooper Silhouette
The latest pairs from Demna.
Following on from its Fall 2022 presentation, Balenciaga is back with yet another duo of shoes, this time around presenting the Trooper.
Appearing in a boot and derby style, the Trooper is quintessentially Demna (note, first name only now, people) as it appears in black calfskin leather with a chunky 30mm arched heel, a squared-toe, and an overall chunky, dominating aesthetic.
The boot is perhaps the least daring of the two, as its square toe blends into the throat and collar section more seamlessly than the derby iteration. With the latter, you’re well aware there’s a lump at the end of the shoe, but it’s a strong sartorial statement to wear something as chunky as this.
All the volume is complemented by the Trooper’s thick-toothed lugged sole unit, which is heavy-duty and sure to last for decades.
The derby retails for £625 GBP, while the boot costs £825 GPB (approximately $825 USD — $1,090 USD).
