Rowing Blazers and Babar Go Skiing
Inspired by the children’s character’s appearance in the 1966 book ‘Babar Fait du Ski.’
After working with FILA for a skiing-inspired collaboration recently, New York label Rowing Blazers has returned to the slopes for its latest Babar the Elephant collection. Designed in collaboration with Nelvana, the producer, distributor and licensor behind Babar, and the Clifford Ross Company, the collection is inspired by the 1966 book Babar Fait du Ski.
In the Fall/Winter 2021 collection, imagery of Babar from the book appears across items such as French terry loopback sweats, a Winter jacket, sherpa fleece and heavyweight rugby shirts. Additionally, the sweater worn by Babar in the Babar Fait du Ski is recreated in the form of the Babar Ski Team Patch Sweater, while the collection is rounded out with cold-weather accessories.
Launching the latest Babar x Rowing Blazers collaboration, founder Jack Carlson said:
“Some of my favorite Babar illustrations are those of Babar skiing. I’ve wanted to produce a Babar ski capsule for a long time, both creating ski and après pieces emblazoned with the illustrations, as well as recreating pieces from the books themselves, like Babar’s geometric ski jumper, matching mittens, and his red hat with the ear flaps (how were they supposed to cover his elephant ears anyway?). That’s what we’ve done in this collection, and it’s one of my favorite collections we’ve ever produced!”
The latest Babar x Rowing Blazers collection is available now from the Rowing Blazers web store.
