Forbes has officially announced its annual list of the 400 richest Americans. The year’s list saw an overall increase in wealth by 40% from $3.2 trillion to $4.5 trillion USD and a raised cutoff net worth from $2.1 billion to $2.9 billion USD. Below is a brief rundown of the facts and figures.

For the fourth consecutive year, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos tops the list with a value of $201 billion USD. Following him closely at second is Elon Musk who tripled in net worth since last year to $190.5 billion USD in large part due to the runup in Tesla shares. Taking the third spot is Mark Zuckerberg, followed by Bill Gates who misses the top two spots for the first time in three decades. Google co-founder Larry Page completes the top five.

51 billionaires dropped from the list including Donald Trump and Oprah Winfrey, while 44 newcomers are introduced to the rankings, with the wealthiest individual also happening to be the youngest. Crypto entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, joins the list as the richest self-made newcomer in the history of The Forbes 400. Seven cryptocurrency entrepreneurs join the list this year as well including Coinbase co-founders Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam. Other introductions include R.J Scaringe, founder of the electric automaker Rivian and former pro gambler Jeff Yass.

The number of women on the Forbes 400 remains constant at 56, and just 14 members on the list are under 40. Regarding regional distributions, most of America’s wealthiest choose to reside in California with 89 members based in San Francisco, followed by 67 in New York and 37 in Texas and Florida.
