Nick Sisombath‘s forever-growing independent sneaker label Collegium is evolving yet again with the pending release of its latest sneaker, the Pillar Destroyer II “Devastators.”

The California-based label is known for its Pillar “Destroyer High” and complementing lows that draw inspiration from familiar sneakers, adopting popular colorways such as “Bred” and “Royal” before implementing a luxurious twist that separates Collegium from the pack. Back in August, it experimented with a line of penny loafers, and now the label has updated its retro-tinged aesthetic with the new “Devastators,” which drop in “Platinum Grey” and “Avio Blue.”

As per the brand’s approach to footwear design, these sneakers are made using only the finest of materials. Made in Italy using Italian calfskin leather uppers and paired with Italian rubber outsoles, the shoes come fitted with removable PU insoles and three sets of premium cotton laces — the latter being a component inspired by the Supreme x Nike Blazer; which as Sisombath put it in our exclusive Sole Mates interview, “Even down to the laces — the Supreme Blazer had premium cotton laces with a metal aglet and it came with sail, red, and black pairs, and the little lace bags, it’s exactly what Collegium has today.”

In short, the “Devastators” is described as being “A reimagined vintage trainer with our individual touches of materialization and design cues.” Aptly, the pair presents itself in an ’80s low-top B-ball shape and is strategically designed to feature panels of leather and suede in a way that echoes retro sneakers, while elements such as the perforated toe box, multi-piece and tri-toned sole unit, and even the outsole itself, all further encourage an air of the past.

What’s more, Collegium is also dropping these sneakers in a full, and very comprehensive, size run spanning EU 35 to EU 47. Set to drop on Collegium’s website on October 9 at 10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST, the Pillar Destroyer II “Devastators” will cost $250 USD for both colorways. Check out the pairs above.
