Dries Van Noten's Psychedelic Len Lye-Inspired "Clasen" Shirt Is Finally Here
Spring/Summer 2021 just got a lot more interesting.
Legendary Antwerp Six member Dries Van Noten unveiled his co-ed Spring/Summer 2021 show back in October 2020, bringing men’s and women’s together for the first time in a psychedelia-heavy collection.
Two standouts from the collection were Van Noten’s “Clasen” shirts, served in colors such as green, pink, and the two seen above, black and burnt orange. As with most of the collection, these SS21 short sleeves take inspiration from Len Lye’s films, the multihyphenate known for his experimental video projects and kinetic sculptures that pioneered psychedelic notions almost 40 years before it became more mainstream.
As a result, the “Clasen” shirt features a still taken from one of Lye’s films that depicts a man wearing a shirt. It’s printed almost like a light leak on the cotton, finished in a negative photography-style color palette. The “Clasen” is cut slightly boxy and oversized, and is finished with a pointed collar.
Dries Van Noten’s SS21 “Clasen” shirts are priced at $565 USD each and can be purchased on 24S now.
