adidas Originals Celebrates NMD_R1's 5th Anniversary With Explosive Primeknit Design
Paired with a black BOOST sole unit and suede details.

adidas Originals continues to celebrate the NMD_R1‘s fifth anniversary with yet another special release, this time around adorning the shoe’s Primeknit upper with a “Core Black” base and a multicolored contrasting pattern.
Now that the NMD line has become a staple in adidas Originals’ roster, the shoe itself has lost momentum to plenty of other new silhouettes and technological advancements such as the label’s 4D material. However, this new NMD_R1 looks to restore some of its once-revered hype, as the pair features a design that draws from some of the most iconic NMD’s around — for us, we see nods of 2016’s Nice Kicks x adidas Originals NMD and perhaps references to the “Glitch Camo” pairs.
Signature design elements such as a black BOOST sole unit and its accompanying midsole plugs, as well as the preferred “Gum” outsole, have been included in this pair. Elsewhere, we see commonplace details elevated with the use of suede, most notably highlighting the eyestay placket, Trefoil-branded tongue tag, heel cap, and rear pull tab. A final unique addition is the embroidered red Trefoil logo found on the heel.
Take a look at the adidas Originals NMD_R1 above. It’s set to release on the brand’s Australian website on January 13 for $320 AUD (approx. $248 USD).
