ASICS Preps Two Monochromatic Takes on the GEL-Kayano 14
Sleek, stylish single-colored takes on the lauded ’00s runner.

After receiving an in-line jolt of energy at the hands of Kiko Kostadinov, ASICS‘ GEL-Kayano 14 has begun rolling out in several sporty colorways, the latest of which are a duo of monochromatic black and white takes. A high-performance runner from the ’00s reinvented as a casual shoe, the Kayano 14 still manages to look advanced — even though the line it comes from is up to a slightly staggering 27th model.
Both pairs serve up a true-to-the original upper, built from stripped-back mesh that’s reinforced with synthetic Tiger stripe overlays and a forefoot flex point. On each style, these overlays supply a slight color divergence: the black pair uses a ultra-dark slate gray while the white pair opts for an ever-so-faint sail tint. Tonal branded hits appear on both the lateral heel and the tongue, while down below a full-foot GEL cushioning setup that’s visible in the heel and forefoot alike provides signature ASICS cushioning to complete the look.
Each style from this duo of new GEL-Kayano 14s is set to release at Japanese retailers like atmos on January 8. The pre-tax MSRP for each is set at ¥ ¥14,000 JPY (approximately $135 USD).
