Respawn Entertainment is introducing its 16th Legend for ”Mayhem,” the eighth season of Apex Legends.

Named Fuse, the maverick grew up as a freedom fighter on Salvo, developing an affinity for explosives during his many missions and raids alongside his childhood friend. As Fuse becomes more engrossed in participating in the planet’s fighting pits, his relationship with his friend deteriorates. One day, Salvo announces his decision to join the Syndicate planets and Fuse tells his friend that he’ll be leaving to participate in the Apex Games, setting her off in a rampage and causing a fight between the two. The altercation ends with a golden grenade exploding, tearing off Fuse’s right arm.

Aside from the new playable character, the free-to-play battle royale’s upcoming season will be adding the 30-30 Repeater — a new lever-action rifle — and also give Kings Canyon another major overhaul, offering both old and new players plenty to explore.

Season 8 of Apex Legends will arrive on February 2.

Elsewhere in gaming, Fortnite is bringing football into the game with its partnership with 23 global teams.
