Electronic Arts is set to officially close its record-breaking $55 billion USD go-private deal after securing all necessary regulatory approvals. The video game publisher expects the transaction to finalize on or about the close of trading on August 4, 2026.
The historic buyout is spearheaded by a consortium comprising Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, with stockholders receiving $210 USD per share in cash. Once completed, the publisher behind major franchises such as Battlefield 6, The Sims, and Madden NFL will delist from the NASDAQ and transition into a privately held company.
Despite the shift in corporate ownership, EA will remain headquartered in Redwood City, California, with Andrew Wilson continuing his role as CEO to oversee operations across its global studio network.
The $55 billion USD merger is expected to officially close on August 4, 2026.
