No, This adidas Stan Smith Isn't a Sean Wotherspoon Collaboration
Though it does boast a sustainable PRIMEGREEN construction and painted floral graphics.
As part of its push towards achieving total climate neutrality by 2050, adidas has begun working sustainable materials into some of the most popular adidas Originals silhouettes — one of which is the Stan Smith. A time-honored tennis-turned-lifestyle sneaker known mostly for its signature white and green colorway, the Stan’s latest style sees it adapt a PRIMEGREEN construction and take on playful, Earth-centric graphics reminiscent of Sean Wotherspoon‘s Superstar “Superearth” collaboration.
White leather uppers are built from PRIMEGREEN material, ensuring they contain no virgin plastics. This sustainable material choice is saluted indirectly with a colorful collage of graphics that reach from the forefoot to the heel and encompass everything from flowers to raindrops, a globe and a hand-stenciled Trefoil logo. Classic green and white Stan Smith embellishments appear on the tongue and heel tab alike, while the shoe’s only direct callout to its PRIMEGREEN construction is stamped on the insole. Trim white midsoles and outsoles round off the look.
The adidas Stan Smith PRIMEGREEN is available now at Japanese stockists like atmos. The pre-tax MSRP is set at ¥12,000 JPY (approximately $116 USD).
