Shamir Shares New Country-Tinged Song "Other Side"
Inspired by an episode of ‘Unsolved Mysteries.’
25-year-old Philadelphia-based musician Shamir Bailey, known simply as Shamir, will deliver his new self-titled album next week following a handful of promising singles throughout this past summer. His latest offering is “Other Side,” an homage to country music with a story inspired by his stumbling upon an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
“I watched an episode of Unsolved Mysteries about a woman whose husband was lost during the Vietnam War and how she never gave up trying to get answers about what happened to him. I wrote this song from her perspective. They’re both now deceased, so the song is also about how (I hope) they’ve reunited in the afterlife, or more accurately, the ‘Other Side,’” Shamir said in a press release.
Shamir follows March’s Cataclysm effort while the artist has since offered fans a number of diverse tracks that should inspire anyone to check out the upcoming project. “Running” was a reflection on toxic friendships and gender dysphoria. His “I Wonder” came complete with a visual inspired by climate change and the work of Keith Haring. Shamir even released a quarantine themed ballad “On My Own”.
