Almost two years since Netflix was first rumored to be working on a Resident Evil series with Capcom, the streaming platform has now debuted the first trailer for the upcoming series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Based on the legendary video game franchise itself, the series is said to expand on the universe while offering a “sci-fi twist” to it. It follows two of the games’ most iconic characters, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, as the venture deeper into the Resident Evil universe, confronting terrifying monsters on the way. While the franchise has received CG movies before, this series is the first CG drama ever made for it. Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi will be producing and supervising the project, while TMS Entertainment will co-produce as well. 3DCG animation will be handled by Quebico and Kei Miyamoto, who was responsible for Resident Evil: Vendetta.

There’s currently no official release date for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, but Netflix says it’ll arrive sometime in 2021.

Elsewhere in entertainment, a new trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron – Earthrise has just dropped.
