London-based label maharishi has revealed its latest M.A.H.A. World Corps, reinterpreting the classic military influence. A particular reference point for the collection is the customization and decoration of uniforms that followed the forced conscription of indigenous people around the world.

The way these uniforms were customized acts as a counterpoint to traditional ideas of military uniforms, which were designed to block any hint of individualism. The inspiration is referenced through Vietnamese Hmong Story Cloths, which now feature artworks showing Hill Tribes mixing with AWOL soldiers, and military-style patches reworked in organic cotton.

Elsewhere, the collection features a new two color disruptive pattern dubbed DPM: Mamushi, which is inspired by the camouflage worn by Korean high school students during military training in the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s. The color palette for the M.A.H.A. World Corps collection references Middle Easter tribal communities through the “Carmine” tones while “Coyote Tan” is a medium brown color originally used in U.S. Marine fieldwear.

Take a look at maharishi’s Fall/Winter 2020 M.A.H.A. World Corps lookbook in the gallery above. The collection will release via the brand’s web store in the near future.
