Michael Jordan Joins DraftKings as Investor and Advisor
The company’s shares grew 12% following the announcement.

On Wednesday, sports betting company DraftKings brought in NBA legend Michael Jordan as both advisor and investor to the company.
The size of the ex-basketball professional’s investment has not been disclosed, but he’ll be sitting on the board of directors and helping with company strategy, product development, equity and belonging, marketing, and diversity, according to a statement from the company. “The strategic counsel and business acumen Michael brings to our board is invaluable, and I am excited to have him join our team,” said CEO and co-founder Jason Robins.
Jordan has long been a gambling enthusiast, something the player spoke about in the massively-popular documentary about him, The Last Dance. As of May, Forbes put his net worth at $2.1 billion USD, naming him the richest retired athlete in the world. Since the announcement of his addition, DraftKings’ stock price also surged as much as 12 percent.
