Parisian label FUTUR and the heritage French footwear company Mephisto have combined once again for another shoe, this time around taking on the co-founder Felix Schaper‘s favorite silhouette — the Barracuda.
Mephisto has been operating since the early ’60s and is renowned for making comfortable shoes of the highest quality, using only the finest cuts of leather and suede to craft its pairs. This foundation remains for FUTUR’s collaboration, as the pair sports an upper made entirely from white leather and cream suede.
However, the leather and suede uppers are also GORE-TEX-equipped, meaning they’ll be durable despite their summery shade. As per all of Mephisto’s projects, the shoes are incredibly detailed. Mephisto branding appears on the tongue tag and underneath the shoe’s collar, while a metal GORE-TEX plaque has been added to the lateral mid-panel.
There’s a set of silver-toned D-ring eyelets that lock the red-and-white rope laces in place, and there is also an intricately woven liner that contrasts the shoe’s light color palette.
Rounding out the pair is its 100 percent caoutchouc-made sole unit. A white midsole is stacked atop of a cream lugged outsole that’s finished with a duo of clear airbag windows that shows you the technology within, something that Mephisto seldom does.
The FUTUR x Mephisto F Barracuda GORE-TEX can be seen above and purchased on FUTUR’s website now. It retails for €249 EUR (approx. $295 USD), and will also drop at retailers including END., Hanon, and Highs & Lows imminently.
