Adsum Dips the Reebok Club C in Rich Chocolate Colorway
Putting a Fall-ready spin on the classic tennis silhouette.

New York-based label Adsum has followed up the arrival of its Fall/Winter 2020 collection by unveiling its second collaboration with Reebok. This time, the brand has taken on the Club C silhouette, reworking the classic tennis design into a new aesthetic.
Adsum has stuck with the monotone design of the original sneaker, replacing the traditional all-white colorway with an all-over dark chocolate brown color. The sneaker is then finished with a semi-translucent rubber outsole in reference to the gum soles used in the ’70s and ’80s.
Speaking to HYPEBEAST about the design, Adsum co-founders Pete Macnee and Christian Rice explained where the sneaker’s design came from, “Inspiration comes from classic dark brown/dark gum shoes from the ’70s and ’80s. There were some specific shoes we referenced while designing. You’ll see there’s design continuity from our first shoe with Reebok (Pyro). We used the same suede spec from the Pyro heel counter on the Revenge Plus eyelet, check and heel tab. The nubuck outer softens the appearance of shoe and increases wearability for us.”
The pair also detailed how the sneaker fits in with the overall FW20 collection, “A brown shoe always has strong Fall vibes. They’re a little harder to pull off in shorts, but go perfectly with a pair of cords or jeans. I think in general we wanted our Fall/Winter 2020 collection to be a little more buttoned up and mature. It felt more natural to us and who we are. A tonal brown shoe where we paid attention to the details like material play, fit in perfectly with that.”
