8DIVISION FW20 Refines Kurt Cobain's Wardrobe
The ’90s are back by way of shaggy cardigans and washed-out denim jeans.
8DIVISION‘s in-house wares are as effortlessly high-end as the brands it stocks, but the South Korean retailer distinguishes its own line from the other brands by filling in the spaces between. That is to say, the store aims to provide effortless basics that aren’t too directional or specific, garments that stand the test of time and complement the other goods created by the third-party designers.
This season, 8DIVISION channels the wardrobe of ’90s grunge musicians, particularly the styles worn by the most famous of them all: Kurt Cobain. Cobain’s inimitable cardigans, sweaters and jeans inspire much of the collection, but 8DIVISION shuns the well-trodden path of remaking Cobain’s clothing by stripping back extraneous detailing in favor of sleek, quality-first fabrics. On-stage outfits also play into the thrift store and military surplus-inspired waffle tees, field shirts, harrington jackets and M65-indebted cargo pants, all realized in versatile neutral tones.
Expect the FW20 items to hit 8DIVISION’s web store later this month.
Elsewhere in Korea, ADER error layers up with its own Fall/Winter 2020 range.
