Orville Peck's New EP 'Show Pony' Features Collab With Shania Twain
“Legend Never Dies” is a nod to both artists’ LGBTQ+ fanbases.
After revealing the track “Summertime” back in April, Orville Peck has released his entire EP titled Show Pony via Columbia Records. The six-track project features a collaboration with fellow Canadian country singer Shania Twain. Peck delayed the EP’s launch so that he could spend his time raising money and awareness for the Black Lives Matter movement and protests erupting across the U.S.
“We’re undergoing a huge overdue worldwide transformation thanks to the Black Lives Matter movement and that is mainly what I want to put my focus on at the moment,” the masked country singer said on social media in June. “The momentum is currently so strong, and it needs to keep going in order to dismantle the injustices of oppression, so if your voice hasn’t been heard yet just use it, or walk out and hear the protesters, and if you’re scared, tell them Orville sent you!”
The spotlight of Show Pony is the duet “Legend Never Dies” with Twain. “Working with Shania was a dream come true,” Peck said. “Her music made me feel empowered as a kid and was a huge influence on me.” The track’s lyrics nod to both artists’ LGBTQ+ fanbases. “You got nothing if you ain’t got pride,” they sing in the chorus. “So honey, take the wheel.”
