nanamica will soon open the doors to its first store in the United States — signaling the label’s inaugural outpost outside of Japan. During a trip to New York, Eiichiro Homma, the brand’s founder and managing director, signed the lease for the 1,200-square-foot retail space situated at 125 Wooster Street in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.

The New York store will feature the Japanese mainstay’s coveted selection of modern, outdoor apparel made using high-tech materials. It will also have limited selections of collaborative Dr. Martens footwear, Reebok apparel and silhouettes from The North Face Purple Label — nanamica’s collaboration line with The North Face. Conventional prices for nanamica items range from $600 USD to $1,200 USD for outerwear, $600 USD for a suit jacket and $360 USD for trousers. Moreover, shirts are expected to fall in the $200 USD price range and T-shirts are around $80 USD to $140 USD.

“With hopes that the high-level mix of fashion and functionality of nanamica will become a standard for people of all different countries, we would like to express our brand world along with the message “ONE OCEAN, ALL LANDS” (the ocean is one and the world is connected) from New York to the world,” said the brand in a statement.

The interiors of the store will channel a “beach house” atmosphere designed in collaboration with Japanese architect, Taichi Kuma. nanamica New York will open on August 23.
