Watch Westside Gunn's New Music Video for "Allah Sent Me"
Another standout from his critically-acclaimed ‘Pray for Paris.’
Westside Gunn put out one of the best records of 2020 when he debuted Pray for Paris. The album was a testament to his skills as not only one of hip-hop’s finest curators but also as one of its top-notch lyricists (even though he doesn’t want to be considered a rapper). Today, Westside returns with his new black and white music video for his Griselda crew reunion “Allah Sent Me” featuring family members Benny The Butcher and Conway The Machine with production from Daringer.
Directed by The Wizard, “Allah Sent Me” is a day-in-the-life story of a Buffalo-based hustler where he wakes up to give thanks to Allah, rolling out a Yves Saint Laurent prayer mat before going to work. The narrative is reminiscent of the recently-shared Conflicted, the first title from the Griselda Films imprint starring and executive produced by Benny The Butcher.
As if Pray for Paris wasn’t enough, Gunn recently released another full-length project, Flygod Is An Awesome God II. He spoke to HYPEBEAST about his prolific output in a recent interview, stating, “There’s no mysterious book of rhymes of Westside Gunn or a file of 10 unreleased Westside Gunn songs. Everything I’ve ever recorded is out. You can be like, “Yo, let me hear some new sh*t.” My new sh*t is Pray for Paris. There’s no song that’s just sitting in the computer, bro. Rapping is like the tenth thing on my list I do. But it’s important because everything else that I do before I rap inspires those raps.”
Gunn announced that he’s finalizing his next studio album already titled Who Made the Sunshine with a release planned for later this year. His reported collaborative project with Madlib is on the way in the future too. Watch the full visual above.
In more music updates, Gorillaz teamed up with ScHoolboy Q for their new music video “PAC-MAN”.
