Pop Smoke's "Got It on Me" Track From Posthumous Album Gets Video Treatment
Clips from recording sessions and show performances were included.
A video for Pop Smoke‘s “Got it on Me” track has just released. The cut from the rapper’s posthumous album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon is a frenetically mixed tune with rapid percussions and orchestra melodies. The song also samples 50 Cent‘s 2003 “Many Men” track as the artist can be heard singing the song’s popular chorus, Many men wish death ‘pon me/ Lord I don’t cry no more/ Don’t look to the sky no more/ Have mercy on me/. Instead of “have mercy on me,” the rapper replaces the phrase with “‘cuz I got it on me.”
The video for the song, which is also the 17th track on the project, is edited in black and white and mixes footage from Smoke’s recording sessions and tour performances. The visual echoes Pop Smoke’s often cheerful demeanor and party persona. Clips showing him surrounded by his fans and team add to the video’s celebratory feel. The Brooklyn born artist died on February 19 of this year at age 20 after being shot during a home invasion in LA.
You can now listen to the Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon in its entirety on Spotify and other music streaming platforms.
